- I've been teaching middle school for about 25 years. Although my specialty this year is language arts, I'm also certified to teach social studies, math, high school English, and elementary school. I love teaching middle school for so many reasons. First, it's the kids; they keep me young and on my toes. Next, it's the structure of a middle school; it allows me to explore a wide variety of topics and activities every single day. Third, I'm a little crazy, but no one notices in middle school. It's the norm.
